Throughout the next six months, the two companies worked together to develop plans and select technologies that would insulate and seal the building envelope as well as generate renewable energy.
But the vision wasn't just to build one home. It was to educate the public and homebuilders on the possibilities of energy efficiency in harsh northern climates. And educate it did!
For the year that the home was open to the public, over 5,000 people toured the home and learned about energy efficiency, net-zero energy homes and available products and technologies that make this dream a reality today.
Much of the building process for Vision Zero was documented – to lead the way for others wanting to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of their homes.
